Concrete corners, new energy, and Lisbon’s scene's eastbound march - Marvila feels a lot like Hackney Wick five years ago.

For a long time, Marvila was a place most Lisboetas drove past, not into — a zone of warehouses, garages, and graffiti-tagged fences somewhere between the city and the river. But over the past few years, this patch of East Lisbon has quietly become one of the most interesting areas for underground clubbing in the city.

You won’t find velvet ropes or big-room EDM out here. What you will find: Funktion-Ones in old wine cellars, hybrid venues with art on the walls and bass in the floor, and a new generation of Lisbon crews carving out a space far from the tourists and the TikToks.

Here’s where to go if you’re heading east after dark.

Musa de Marvila

Not a club, but worth mentioning. This craft brewery and taproom often acts as a soft landing before the real party kicks off. DJs spin on weekends — mostly house, funk, and disco — and the vibe is more open-air day party than all-night rinse. It’s a good place to meet friends, drink good beer, and start your night without the rush.

Taqueria Paloma

Another spot to consider is Taqueria Paloma, a vibrant eatery in Marvila. Known for its authentic Mexican cuisine and lively atmosphere, it often features DJs spinning eclectic sets, making it a great place to enjoy absolutelt banging food and tunes before heading to the clubs.

8 Marvila

A multifunctional space rehabilitated from the former Abel Pereira da Fonseca Wine Warehouses, 8 Marvila hosts a variety of cultural events, including music performances and club nights. It's a hub for creativity and nightlife in the area, and also offers a great market on weekends.

Those Who Dance

A multidisciplinary cultural space in Marvila, Lisbon, dedicated to music, art, and creative expression. Housed in a 1000 sqm warehouse, it hosts intimate, high-quality events featuring world-class DJs, immersive performances, and innovative art installations. More than a venue, it’s a community hub for those who live and breathe dance culture — where every event is an invitation to connect, create, and experience the magic of shared movement.

Outra Cena

An alternative club space located in a former wine warehouse in the outskirts of Lisbon. Outra Cena is known for its unique ambiance and diverse music programming, offering a different flavor to the Lisbon nightlife scene. Outra Cena is Lisbon's answer to Berghain, so it's not always super easy to get in. Come with an open mind, a cool fit, and some serious energy.
